Massage therapy  ·  chronic back pain

Your back pain is not something you just have to live with.

When the same back pain returns no matter how many stretches you do, the problem is rarely the symptom — it is the pattern underneath. Hands-on deep tissue and mobility work, paired with education, helps you break the loop and rebuild a back that moves freely.

Section 02 — The pattern

What chronic back pain looks like

Chronic back pain rarely lives in one spot. It refers, returns, and adapts — because it is held by a pattern of tension, guarding and compensation. These are the people I work with most often.

01

Chronic lower back pain

The pain that has outstayed every scan, every prescription, every stretch you were told would fix it.

02

Upper back & neck tension

The brace your shoulders hold all day, the headaches that trail it home each evening.

03

Postural strain from desk work

Hours folded over a screen, written into the body as stiffness, restriction and shallow breath.

04

Sciatica & referred pain

The line of pain that runs from hip to heel and refuses to be stretched away.

05

Stiffness after injury or surgery

The body that never quite finished healing, locked around the memory of the event.

06

Recurring muscle spasms

The back that seizes without warning, then leaves you moving carefully for weeks.

Assess. Treat. Educate.

A

Assess

Every session begins by listening — to your history, your pain pattern, and what your body does when it is asked to move. Before hands-on work, I map where the restriction, guarding and compensation actually live.

B

Treat

Targeted deep tissue and mobility work addresses the tissues holding the pattern, not just the spot that hurts. The aim is to release the chain, calm the nervous system, and give the body room it has forgotten it had.

C

Educate

You leave with a clear picture of why your pain keeps returning and what to do between sessions — movement, posture and breathing cues that keep the work going long after you leave the table.

Twelve years on the table

Trust the power of nature

“I have spent twelve years helping people break the chronic-pain loop with hands-on work and education. The body knows how to recover — it just needs the right conditions.”

My work pairs targeted deep tissue and mobility therapy with clear education, so you understand why your pain keeps returning and what to do about it. Sessions are paced around your body, not a routine — and you leave with movement and posture cues that keep the work going between visits.

The SLM method

I also use SLM Bodywork — Steve Lockhart’s Myotherapy — a whole-body approach that looks beyond the place that hurts. Each session considers posture and patterns of muscular tension, with the aim of addressing underlying imbalances rather than focusing only on symptoms, alongside practical guidance for everyday movement and wellbeing.
